Popular Engagement Rings & favorite times of the year for engagement - Valentines

January 7th, 2008 by admin

Valentines Day EngagementIn terms of popularity, Valentine’s Day is the most popular day of the year to get engaged (followed by Christmas Day & New Years).  Princess cut engagemet rings are the most popular style of engagement ring to buy.  These results are from a nationwide survey of retail jewelers. From a man’s persepective Valentine’s day is extremely good long term planning for the following reasons:

1. Small chance of forgetting when you got engaged.
2. Valentine’s day will not just seem like another commercialized day but a reminder of your special day.
3.  Easier to fool your future betrothed by planning a “Valentine’s day date” when it actually is a front for your engagement proposal.

The disadvatages to asking on Valentine’s are the following:

1. Roses are more expensive

2. Premium restaurants are booked qiuck and crowded

3. Everything romantic is at a premium but the selection of merchandise is really good.

I would love to hear feedback about the advatages and disadvatages of getting engaged on the these 3 big days.

My husband actually proposed on my birthday and I was not expecting it what so ever. With Valentines Day being such a popular holiday for engagements I think it takes away the element of surprise. I feel the same way about New Year’s (how many engagements have you seen on Dick Clark?).

At the same time though, if the ring is stunning and the moment is right, I don’t think the day matters.

My husband proposed with a beautiful ring from www.abazias.com He took the time to pick out the perfect diamond and setting. The moment was so special and unforgettable.
